Welcome, Bienvenido, Benvenuti
My name is Tori, and I could not be more thrilled to have you here!
I chose to name my blog Delightfully Disrupted because the last few years of my life were disrupted by the unexpected – my marriage, my move to Italy and my early graduation from college.
It’s not that I somehow didn’t know these things were doing to happen until right before they did, but I did think until the very last second that my journey would somehow still look the same as all my peers.
I thought I would graduate in four years and move to a big city to work at a large public relations agency, or that I would get my master’s degree right after undergrad.
I tried so hard for so long to just make myself fit into the shape of the examples before me. At times I was embarrassed and conflicted because I thought I would be seen as less successful because my path wasn’t traditional.
Instead, delightfully and thankfully, marrying my high school sweet heart meant planning a wedding my sophomore year after traveling to South Korea to visit him, finishing my degree online and moving abroad during a pandemic.
It may not have been traditional, but it was mine. And, thanks to the guidance of the faithful people in my life, I am letting go of how I think my life *should* go, and I am entirely embracing the opportunities that have been given to me.
I want to encourage those reading, especially military spouses, by proving to you that you can do hard things. It doesn’t matter the limitations that you put on yourself, or that others put on you. The only way it gets easier is to do it.
So do it! Do the scary things you feel that God has put in your heart to do because you are so much stronger than you even know.
See you in my next post!
